Most of us feel overwhelmed when we are in an emergency situation .
Dr. Salvo is here to help guide you and your pet's care during this time. This type of 'visit' puts you in a direct phone call with Dr. Salvo.
She will call you to discuss why your at the emergency hospital/clinic and what the emergency staff is advising you. She will answer and explain any questions or concerns you may have so that you best understand either the treatment plan, recommendations or disease process.
She will advocate for you and your pet and clarify any treatments/diagnostics/therapies etc with you that the emergency veterinarian is recommending. She will also discuss with you alternative options if there are any and clarify the justification of what is being recommended or if what is being recommended is necessary at the time.

A virtual visit helps to ease the stress for many patients having to leave home, get into a car, driving through traffic and finally being in a busy lobby with multiple other animals and possibly seeing a different vet every time.

Cats in particular are not typically fans of a ' car ride', much less a cat carrier. A virtual visit eliminates this stress for cats. It also allows Dr. Salvo to see the cat in its own environment where he or she is more comfortable and would display more natural behaviors...which helps to better evaluate the current concern.

A virtual visit allows you and your pet to stay at home and not have to get into the car, drive through traffic or wait in a loud lobby.
Virtual veterinary consultations provide a clinically efficient and accessible way to address a wide range of pet health concerns. These appointments are ideal for triage, post-operative follow-ups, chronic disease management, behavioral consultations, medication reviews, and nutritional guidance. By eliminating the stress of transport and in-clinic exposure, virtual visits can improve compliance and allow veterinarians to evaluate pets in their home environment—where subtle behavioral or physical signs may be more apparent. This approach enhances continuity of care while maintaining the highest standards of veterinary medicine.

WHAT IS A 'VIRTUAL VISIT'?
A virtual visit is a one on one appointment with Dr. Salvo. Be sure to have everything prepared ahead of time, and have your pet available for viewing. Dr. Salvo will discuss with you what your current concerns are and how best to address them. Once your have had a virtual visit with Dr. Salvo, you are considered an established client/patient and will have access to Dr. Salvo's online pharmacy. In the event medication is necessary; they can easily be mailed directly to you through this pharmacy that is connected with your pet's medical records.
When you click the 'Book Now' button below, you will be directed to Dr. Salvo's virtual appointment book where you can find the day and time of availability. After you schedule a visit, an email with a link to join the virtual meeting will be emailed to you. Please understand that there are obvious limitations with virtual visits such as inability to perform diagnostics ( lab work, x-rays, ultrasound etc) that may be recommended and/or necessary. If that is the case, Dr. Salvo will discuss options and reasoning of which diagnostics may be recommended.
Virtual veterinary visits are well-suited for a variety of non-emergency concerns, including skin issues, mild gastrointestinal symptoms, behavioral changes, medication refills, follow-up care, chronic condition management, nutritional counseling, and post-surgical check-ins. These consultations allow veterinarians to assess symptoms, review medical history, provide guidance, and determine whether in-person care is needed. While virtual care is not a substitute for hands-on exams in urgent or complex cases, it is an effective tool for maintaining continuity of care and supporting your pet’s health between in-clinic visits.
Dr. Salvo is a compassionate and skilled clinician. She will take a history from you, gather a visual exam, discuss a plan specifically for your pet; this can include medication, a diet change, or visit to a vet, etc. It is important to note that some issues may be better suited to an in person clinic visit, but a telehealth visit can help steer you in the right direction.
The choice to chose a telehealth visit over an in person visit may be due to several reasons, including but not limited to; personal accessibility restraints, bad weather, time constraints, fearful or anxious pet, simple convenience etc.
Diagnostic testing such as x-ray/ultrasound or lab tests cannot be done in a virtual visit. If Dr. Salvo feels it necessary, then she will refer you to a general practice clinic to do so.
As with any medical exam or procedure, there are potential risks associated with the use of telehealth. These risks include, but may not be limited to:
Because each pet will need to be evaluated, assessed and documented separately, each telehealth visit can only accommodate one pet. Please make a separate visit appointment for each additional pet.
