WHAT IS A 'VIRTUAL VISIT'?

A virtual visit is a one on one appointment with Dr. Salvo. Be sure to have everything prepared ahead of time, and have your pet available for viewing. Dr. Salvo will discuss with you what your current concerns are and how best to address them. Once your have had a virtual visit with Dr. Salvo, you are considered an established client/patient and will have access to Dr. Salvo's online pharmacy. In the event medication is necessary; they can easily be mailed directly to you through this pharmacy that is connected with your pet's medical records.

When you click the 'Book Now' button below, you will be directed to Dr. Salvo's virtual appointment book where you can find the day and time of availability. After you schedule a visit, an email with a link to join the virtual meeting will be emailed to you. Please understand that there are obvious limitations with virtual visits such as inability to perform diagnostics ( lab work, x-rays, ultrasound etc) that may be recommended and/or necessary. If that is the case, Dr. Salvo will discuss options and reasoning of which diagnostics may be recommended.

Dr. Salvo is a compassionate and skilled clinician. She will take a history from you, gather a visual exam, discuss a plan specifically for your pet; this can include medication, a diet change, or visit to a vet, etc. It is important to note that some issues may be better suited to an in person clinic visit, but a telehealth visit can help steer you in the right direction.

why schedule a Virtual visit?

The choice to chose a telehealth visit over an in person visit may be due to several reasons, including but not limited to; personal accessibility restraints, bad weather, time constraints, fearful or anxious pet, simple convenience etc.

What cant be done on a Virtual visit?

Diagnostic testing such as x-ray/ultrasound or lab tests cannot be done in a virtual visit. If Dr. Salvo feels it necessary, then she will refer you to a general practice clinic to do so.

are there any risks with using Virtual visits?

As with any medical exam or procedure, there are potential risks associated with the use of telehealth. These risks include, but may not be limited to:

In rare cases, information transmitted by a pet owner may not be sufficient (e.g. poor photo resolution or slow wifi) to allow our telehealth veterinarian to appropriately assess your pet. As such, a delay in medical evaluation or treatment could occur
In rare cases, a lack of access to complete medical records may result in adverse drug interactions or allergic reactions or other judgment errors.

how many pets can i schedule for the same visit?

Because each pet will need to be evaluated, assessed and documented separately, each telehealth visit can only accommodate one pet. Please make a separate visit appointment for each additional pet.
